Nightfall in NYC

This past weekend, I went to New York City for my brother's wedding. The wedding and reception took place on a cruise boat that left from the World's Fair Marina, sailed down the East River, out and around the Statue of Liberty and back again. A good time was had by all. Congrats to Steve and Bethany.

Sweets and Segways

300 Hanover St., Boston, MA

On Tuesday, I made an early morning run (4:45 a.m.) to Logan Airport in Boston to drop off some campers and counselors. I told some co-workers that I'd stop at a bakery and bring back some treats. I was strongly advised by one co-worker to stop at Mike's Pastry in North Boston, an area which is historically Italian. Best bakery ever! Seriously, I could have dropped $200 in that place with no problem. The cannolis melt in your mouth. I'll let the picture below do the talking...

Clockwise from top left: German brownie, apple crumb, chocolate mocha, lobster tail, chocolate chip cannolis, cupcake

After buying my stash of pastries, I made a pit stop in NH to visit the ever-beautiful KP to share cannolis and coffee before heading back to camp. It's always good to visit with KP. While there, she gave me an impromptu lesson on her Segway. It was surprisingly fun and a little challenging. I still need a little more practice time.

Warren's Lobster House - Kittery, ME

I think this is Warren's

I was northbound on I-95 through New Hampshire yesterday thinking of where I could have lunch. I turned off in Kittery, ME and headed for the waterfront and found Warren's Lobster House. I'm not a lobster fan, but I'll throw down fish and chips anytime. Warren's is on Route 1, just north of the bridge that crosses into Portsmouth, NH. Skeeter, give me a shout out if you've eaten here. It's just down the road from the entrance to the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard.

My haddock and chips were served in a paper-lined basket. The lining was a replica of a page from an old London newspaper. Nice Colonial touch. Let me tell ya, this haddock was good enough for Jehovah. I haven't gotten a bad batch of fish and chips in Maine.

My meal came with salad bar, so I threw together a Dave's Original - romaine lettuce, sprouts, diced hard boiled eggs, chick peas, marinated mushrooms and feta cheese.

I washed it all down with an IBC Root Beer.
