Flippin' Jimmy's - Fostoria, OH

After nearly a year, we're finally finished with both the restaurant and the coffee house. Yesterday, we passed our county health inspection, so we have the green light to open. Our first food order comes today, so we're deciding whether to open Jimmy's tomorrow or Saturday. The coffee house will probably not be open until about Oct. 1st. Stay tuned.

I want to read opening day stories!

Outstanding DD, I am afloat in ideas. Both places look great.

Do you realize how funny it would have been to see your reflection in the store window if you were dressed like Mel Sharples? The comedy gods threw you a meatball down the middle of the plate and you took it for a strike. This is a missed opportunity on par with no etcha-sketch sign outside the etcha-sketch company. I don't ask for much.

Who's doing the cooking and brewing?

I don't know why, but I sense the opportunity for something illegal here. Bookmaking perhaps?

Since when did a hernia check become part of the health inspection?

Hiker,

I'll try to keep a running diary for the first day. Unfortunately, there are a lot freakish characters in town, so that may provide a lot of material for me.

Ernie,

The Mel Sharples angle hasn't escaped me - the white hat, the rolled up sleeves on the t-shirts. Plus, an older woman named Alice came in the other day to apply. True story.

As far as illicit activities, we have a scary basement that could be used to harbor illegal Bangladeshi immigrants.

Very nice DD, You and your bro have done a fantastic job with both places.
So, you told us how the coffee shop got its' name, so what's the story for Flippin' Jimmy's?

The only thing I would say is, you need some things on the walls in Jimmy's....

I was about to get ready and come on up, but you lost me when you mentioned the 'Pepsi' dispenser, Coke is far better! No Ernie, not that coke, the beverage coke...

As Hiker said, I too am looking forward to more stories on your experiences with these places.

Stone Works,

Yeah, still deciding on what to do with the walls in Jimmy's.

Our brother Jim is a chef who is running our kitchen, hence Flippin' Jimmy's.

BTW, we sell Coke in bottles and it was flying off the shelf on our first night.
